☆ 命運預測的依據是 [出生資料]
華夏文化預測命運的方法有很多，但並非都是「命理學」。
命理學是利用公式和邏輯推理，
根據個人的出生資料（年、月、日、時，甚至刻）
來推算個人命運的學問，
例如子平八字，紫微斗數，鐵版神數，七政四餘等等。
那麼紫微斗數究竟是甚麼？
紫微斗數是某個時間和空間、某個父母出生年組合之下，
一個人一生命運的軌跡圖。
We are born at a given moment in a given place
and like vintage years of wine we have the qualities
of the year and of the season in which we are born.

紫微斗數用作推算個人性格及命運所需要的資料，
是一組冷冰冰的數據，
就是個人出生的地點、年、月、日、時。
至於「人為甚麼會有命運？」
和「為甚麼出生資料會和命運有關？」
都是哲學的課題，並非紫微斗數研究的範疇。
物理學通常用方程式來計算；
紫微斗數則是用「程式圖」來計算。
紫微斗數根據個人的出生資料，
用公式起出一百多個 符號 symbols or icons，
排列在一張 星盤 birthchart 的十二個 宮垣 houses 之中，
組成的一幅「程式圖」，
再運用這幅「程式圖」來推算個人一生的命與運。
由於這些符號借用了虛構的星曜名稱，所以稱為「斗數」。
「紫微」就是其中一顆虛構的星曜，
「斗」是指星斗，「數」是程式、計算、推算。
即使命造出生時辰準確無誤，由於一個時辰有三個星盤，
所以必須「定盤」discernment of birthchart 之後，
這張星盤才可以稱為這位命造的「命盤」。
Astrology is knocking at the gates of our universities:
A Tubingen professor has switched over to astrology
and a course on astrology was given at Cardiff
University last year. Astrology is not mere superstition
but contains some psychological facts (like theosophy)
which are of considerable importance.
Astrology has actually nothing to do with the stars
but is the 5000-year-old psychology of antiquity and
the Middle Ages.

Astrology is one of the intuitive methods like the
I Ching, geomantics, and other divinatory procedures.
It is based upon the synchronicity principle,
i.e. meaningful coincidence…Astrology is a naively
projected psychology in which the different attitudes
and temperaments of man are represented as gods
and identified with planets and zodiacal constellations.

So far as the personality is still potential, it can be
called transcendent, and so far as it is unconscious,
it is indistinguishable from all those things that carry
its projections…[that is,] symbols of the outside world
and the cosmic symbols. These form the psychological
basis for the conception of man as a macrocosm

筆者所認識的紫微斗數，除了命造的出生資料之外，
還需要命造父母的斗數出生年次，
因為父親和母親的斗數出生年次，
對命造的命盤會產生可大可小的修訂 modification。
先賢邵康節先生就曾經主張推命必須知父庚和母庚。
紫微斗數假設了不同的父母對命造的命運有不同的影響。
已故皇極神數大師秦抱石先生在生時，
曾經告訴筆者一個秘密：
當命造父母生肖被套取了出來之後，
皇極神數就用命造的八字配上父母的生肖來起卦！

中國傳統文化之中關於「數」的概念，
除了一般計量的涵意之外，還包括有邏輯 Logic、
規律 Regularity 或 自然法則 Rule, Law, Principle。
快思邏輯 Fuzzy Logic 是數，
能量守衡定律是數，涵數 functions 也是數。
研究「數」的方法，一般人所熟悉的有數學和科學。
然而中國傳統文化之中的「數」不止於此。
道是數，業力因果也是數，所以古人認為「萬物莫逃乎數也」。
換一句話說，就是世界上一切事物，包括神秘的事物在內，
都逃不過「數」的規範。
所以老子所說的「道」Tao 或佛教所提出的「業力」Karma，
皆包括在神祕的力量之內，
這就是為何紫微斗數一定牽涉到哲學、宗教及祌祕學。
紫微斗數除了可以幫助我們認識命運的奧秘之外，
斗數中的田宅宮可以讓我們「揣摩」輪迴、因緣、業力，
及前生帶來的阿賴耶識，所以從「認識自己」這個角度來看，
紫微斗數的確是一件非常強大的工具。
然而神祕力量的「數」並非玄學的範疇，這點一定要弄清楚！
玄學中和人、地、國命運有關的數則稱為「數術」，或術數。
數術的功用在於預測，尤其是吉凶的預測。
單就紫微斗數而言，出生資料是數，安星法是數，
大限流年流月流日流時是數，邏輯推理是數，方位也是數。
☆ 斗數和哲學緊密相扣
研究和應用紫微斗數，都離不開哲學、心理學和社會學。
中國傳統文化中，有三句至理名言，
對學習紫微斗數極有幫助，
是學習和解讀紫微斗數無上的心法和心態：
[一] 誠者，天之道也；誠之者，人之道也。
[二] 禍福相倚伏
1. 有得必有失
做一件事時，最好能夠清楚將會得到甚麼，又會失去甚麼，
這會對抉擇有莫大的幫助。
2. 塞翁失馬，焉知非福；塞翁得馬，焉知非禍。
[三] 處理重要而複雜的事情時，要擁抱如是觀，
既不樂觀，亦不悲觀，以平常心，盡人事、聽天命。
Our modern science begins with astronomy.
Instead of saying that man was led by
psychological motives, they formerly said
he was led by his stars…The puzzling thing
is that there is really a curious coincidence
between astrological and psychological facts,
so that one can isolate time from the
characteristics of an individual, and also,
one can deduce characteristics from a certain time.
Therefore we have to conclude that what we call
psychological motives are in a way identical with
star positions. Since we cannot demonstrate this,
we must form a peculiar hypothesis.
This hypothesis says that the dynamics of our
psyche is not just identical with the position
of the stars, nor has it to do with vibrations
──that is an illegitimate hypothesis.
It is better to assume that I is a phenomenon
of time…The stars are simply used by man to
serve as indicators of time.
